Preliminary Results from the ROSAT WFC All-Sky Survey
Abstract
Rosat Wide Field Camera (WFC) observations of five Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN), with very low column densities, were analyzed. These observations were made during the Rosat all sky survey. Positive detections were made only for 3C 273 and NGC 5548 and in both cases the results are consistent with the existence of a soft excess. The analysis of the WFC images was carried out using a point source searching program. Images were obtained for each of the five sources with the known position of the source at the center of the image. This allowed optimum subtraction of the background. These images were searched for significant peaks within 1 arc min of the source position and during the search procedure the background subtraction was finely tuned. Positions of the detected peaks were boresight corrected. The results of the analysis are shown. The following parameters are listed: the significance of the detection, the WFC count rate, and its 1 sigma error.
